Smooth Results With the Less-Invasive Vaser Laser Lipo
Vaser laser lipo is liposuction that uses the application of ultrasonic waves for precise body contouring by liquefying fat in specific trouble spot areas followed by removal using a cannula. With vaser laser lipo, there is a quick recovery period; patients recover faster without the down time they have after other laser procedures. It differs from traditional liposuction in that it is minimally invasive, gentle, and precise, and results in a smooth, firm surface without lumps.
What vaser laser lipo does is offer precision to target trouble areas, although it is also able to remove large amounts of fat like traditional methods. However, vaser laser lipo selects only fatty tissue and doesn't touch other vital tissues like nerves and blood vessels. Because it is able to distinguish fat cells from other tissues, those other tissues are not torn up and removed, so that the patient has less pain and bruising and a much shorter recovery time. Depending on the procedure, it can be done in a hospital or a doctor’s office, under general or IV anesthesia, or local anesthesia.
The way vaser laser lipo works is the surgeon first introduces tumescent saline to the area to numb the area. This also constricts the blood vessels, which diminishes blood loss and lessens bruising. After making a small incision, the doctor inserts a probe with a small cannula which applies precise, ultrasonic/ultrasound waves to a specific targeted area. The fat is liquefied and suctioned out, leaving blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissues unharmed.
Ultrasound-assisted liposuction with vaser laser lipo is different in comparison to other treatments like laser-assisted liposuction or laser lipolysis; suction-assisted or traditional liposuction; and power-assisted liposuction. Laser-assisted lipo uses laser thermal energy, which cauterizes blood vessels in the treated area and burns tissue before suctioning it out. It’s best for small areas only. The thermal energy used can damage good tissues, and may not provide the smoothest results. In suction-assisted liposuction or traditional liposuction, the doctor manually pumps the cannula in and out of fatty tissues, breaking them up and suctioning them out. Power-assisted liposuction is much the same, but uses a mechanized cannula to perform the action. Both techniques can result in a lumpier appearance and longer recovery.
